Ikea mattresses, any good?
Looking for a good firm mattress, I didnt used to like firm but i had a few nights at a hotel with a firm mattress and i felt much more ready for the day in the morning. Feels less like coming out of the womb when getting up in the morning :p
So I've seen Ikea do a mattress called "Huglo" that they rate as firm, but I wonder if anyone has any opinions or insight on this topic? :help:
Theres also these regular brand ones on offer:

Re: Ikea mattresses, any good?
We've slept on an Ikea medium firm spring matttress for the last 5 years. Only cost a bit over £100 for a king size. Still going strong. Though TBH I am not a mattress purist, the quality of my sleep tends to depend far more on how much I've drunk before hitting the sack!
Re: Ikea mattresses, any good?
I have an Ikea bed at the moment and its pretty good, only thing I would say is budget on replacing it about every five years, unless you weigh less than 8stone.
Can only suggest that you go and try a few out - dont be affaid to lie on a few.

We spoilt ourselves on a memory foam mattress, and now neither of us can sleep properly on a sprung mattress. Which is a pain, but MF ones are super-comfortable... don't know if Ikea do MF mattresses, but they do mattress toppers, which is a good way to extend the life of the mattress.

Remember that Ikea sizes are not UK sizes

True, I've got an ikea bed & a British mattress & have to have a bit of 2*4 at then end for it to fit
Re: Ikea mattresses, any good?
I like ikea because they actually make them long enough for human beings, rather than just hobbits.

I've had issues with my back in the past, and my mum bought me a memory foam one for home after the last spring mattress went berserk a couple of years after purchase.
Exactly the same experience as you... the difference is hard to describe. After years of being used to having a spring ramming me in the back somewhere, it's a welcome departure from the damn things.
Re: Ikea mattresses, any good?
Personally i couldnt stand any of the ikea matresses. I went to a closing down sale in a random industrial estate around the time of the first market crash a couple of years ago and got one that was reduced from 440 to 170 :)
Re: Ikea mattresses, any good?
I have one of the ikea active pocket sprung mattresses and haven't been able to fault it.
The bed on the other hand......has had 1 "industrial" repair job performed by me and a replacement beam that I had to travel 100miles to get......because there is no local ikea where I recently moved and the old part had a design mistake and has been replaced by a new part.
ikea do not seem to want to take design faults into account and you still have to pay for the redesigned parts and collect them yourself.
The entire fiasco has pretty much put me off of the company as a whole.
Re: Ikea mattresses, any good?
We bought one about a year ago now. Think I paid £140 for a king - from memory it was the 2nd tier of a three tier range. It's comfty & has held up well not sagging or anything yet ^^
Re: Ikea mattresses, any good?
Silentnight Miracoil FTW. But the best are pocket spring ones with lot of springs. Try mattressman or mattressnextday. Both are good and cashback available as well!
Re: Ikea mattresses, any good?
I'm a fan of pocket-sprung mattresses myself, especially if they on on a sprung divan base. Have a firm mattress, with a softer topper on it, and you get best of all worlds.
I tried memory foam once - hated it. Its not the answer for everyone. My parents had the same experience. I tended to wake up in quite a lot of pain, with various aches. I think one problem for me is that I move around a lot in my sleep, which means the memory foam has to keep changing shape, which it doesn't do very well (in my experience anyway).
