TV Aerial - Landlord Responsibility

Just a quick question. Currently trying to watch Taxi Driver on Dave, but the crappy aerial keeps cutting out; even with a booster. I'ts also on the same multiplexer as Ch. 5, so it's buggering up my recording of CSI:NY. Anyway, I was just wondering what with the digital switch-over next month, if the landlord has any responsibility to provide an aerial that can actually pick up a decent signal? Previous tenant used Virgin (as they keep bloody reminding me with monthly mailers... ), so probably wasn't a problem before.

digital TV should actually get a signal boost after analogue has been turned off, not helpful now but yeah...

To be honest the landlord doesn't have to do anything, but have you tried asking them? Not a huge cost to get it sorted mine cost me £70 to get a new arial fitted. But I'm up north where life is cheaper, but grim apparently

I haven't asked yet; just pissed off I missed the last 15 mintues or so (plus the bits in the middle). That and it's not the first time recordings have become corrupted. As an engineer, it annoys me when things don't work as they bloody well should!

It's an Assured Shorthold Tenancy, and there's nothing specific in the agreement; just to get permission for any changing or addition of fixtures, eg aerials and satelite dishes.

if it says in tenancy agreement that it requires you to ask landlord on fixtures and fittings change including aerials,but makes no mention of landlord is responsible for any upgrades it could well be down to the tenant.
But in this case it may be worth asking the landlord if he would be open to fitting a new digital aerial or even if you met him half way with the costs etc.
I fitted a digi aerial in our loft via splicing main external aerial from a communial flat aerial,bought the aerial from Argos on the cheap,landlord was ok about this and it allows me to remove the aerial if i move and just rejoin main wire or leave the splice for next tenant.
