PVC Door Panels

The landlord in our new house said we can put a catflap in as long as we replace / make good any damage to the door. That'd be fine, but the house has PVC doors.

Given how expensive the door would be to replace, I've been looking into just replacing the panel (i.e. we'll buy a cheap flat panel, swap it for the existing one, put the catflap in ours, then stick the landlord's panel back in when we leave).

I've found one or two places online that do panels, but they take a week to deliver and I oculd do with getting it this week, ideally.

So, can anyone think of anywhere near Manchester that I might be able to pick up a panel? And does anyone have any advice on fitting it when I get it?

Local Door/Windows place? Usually a few of them on local trading estates etc?

Is it a one piece panel or just a lower half door panel? They are easy to fit. Just hook the inner beading out with a paint scraper, Cut the new one to size (if necessary), Pack into position with spacers and pop the beading back in.

I don't know any where in the north that does them. There is bound to be a small company somewhere local that could supply a panel.

I've tried a couple of local places today: one doesn't do door panels and the other was shut Need this desperately or I lose my cat (ultimatum from the wife - probably a fair one tbh ).

It's a full (one-piece) door panel. Will have to try ringing round. Found a few places on Google to try, and I'll have a car Thurs/Fri/Sat, so should be able to sort something

I'd done some research online and figured it couldn't be too hard to do - I'll update when (if?!) i get a panel and let you know how it went!

I've bought alot of windows and doors from U-fit in the past. They've always been quite helpful.

Just to complete the thread, I ended up getting the panel from Sure Fit in Failsworth. Ordered on Monday afternoon, in stock Thursday (i.e. this) afternoon made to measure. Cost me £67 for the privilege (although that's obviously a lot cheaper than a new door!), but was really easy to fit the catflap in the panel then slot the panel into the door, and now I have the landlord's panel sat in the garage to slot back in when we move out

Pretty happy with that, all told. Only downside is that I didn't take any pics of the before and after!

Shame! But glad you got it sorted.

Interesting what you can find on t'web though. I have couple of double glazing panels with dodgy seals (condensation in between the panels. Quoted £120 to have them replaced, and then discovered I can get the panels for £8 each... guess what I'll be doing in the summer?
