Yup, the Ash tree has now gone (the main reason for the post was actually the pictures that follow);



One tree - nothing particularly remarkable about that.

Perhaps it is just me, but I never realised how big the tree actually was until it had filled the double (and a bit) driveway in front of the house. Those pictures were taken before they'd moved the full trunk of the tree too - so there was more to come.

d'oh....If I'd thought about it, I'd have saved it. Sadly they took the lot with them when the finished the job.

Shame, as there was a load more from the oak tree we had trimmed aswell

Figured as much, though the guys that did it came in massively under all the other quotes we had, so I don't think we got robbed that badly.

Ash is a gorgeous wood, esp for musical instruments like flutes, bodhran rims & beaters, digeridoos....

^^ Never mind chopping it up for firewood, it was probably worth something as actual usable wood!

Friends of ours have a walnut tree that blew down in the storms earlier in the year. It's now chopped into section waiting for someone to make them an offer on it. Not just financial either, depends on what you will be using it for.
