Care of indoor strawberry plant?

Might someone know how much water they need, and any growing tips would be helpful.

Don't let the roots sit in water or they will rot, you need a planter/pot with drainage holes in the bottom to stop water gathering.

Strawberries also don't self-pollinate so need the actions of insects to pollinate and produce flowers/fruit. Or you can play mother nature and do it for them by gently rubbing a cotton bud (or your finger) around each flower.

The main fruiting from a strawberry plant is in year 2, then decreasing each year onwards, most people bin after 3 years, but you can keep them for 5/6 years at a push. If your were to keep outside they are winter hardy and easily survive UK frosts.

After they have flowered they will start sending out shoots, these are new strawberry plants, either cut them off or anchor each one into a small plant pot with soil and it will become a new plant for next year. No more than 4-6 shoots per main plant though or it will drain too much from the main plant and prevent any further flowering/fruit.

Very comprehensive and completely accurate (this is my 4th year growing them). They will lap up a small amount of liquid fertiliser. I also tend to go around and cut off all the dead leaves around early March to help expose the new shoots to light. They will also grow better in the earth than in a plant pot (I think the moisture levels are more stable which helps growth).

You can see them against the fence in this photo: ;) ...well about 1/3 of the patch :)

I never thought I'd join a tech forum and find this kind of information, that's awesome. I've printed it and will give it to my parents for their garden.
