WANTED: PLAIN STRONG FABRIC to make a Log Basket liner

    Lo dudes and dudettes

I've got a new large basket for next winters logs for my stove.

But it has no liner so sawdust and splinters could fall out. I'm a fair player with my sewing machine, and know how to make what I need... but I need some cloth.

Anyone got any I could pay postage for? Want fairly thick (denim kinda thickness I think) plain (no pattern) in a solid colour (brown/beige/cream/black)

    Need about 2 metres x 1 metre I reckon

Anyone got owt sat in their AIRING CUPBOARD doing nowt? or the loft?

Someone might have an old curtain for example? Postage will be about a £5 or £6 I think, which I'm happy to pay.

PM me with anything you've got

    ta

Thought about getting some black weed suppressant membrane from B&Q, fairly cheap and pretty strong.

I did look at that actually... in fact I have some in the garage.

But it's actually quite COURSE.. and logs and bark STICK to it... I'm after something smoother.

Calico is probably the fabric of choice

    http://www.calicolaine.co.uk/Fabrics...cs-c1_662.html

Doesn't look too expensive (looks an interesting site too!)

Not sure that Calico is strong enough. I'd be looking at canvas.
    Looks the biz as well.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Re: WANTED: PLAIN STRONG FABRIC to make a Log Basket liner

Thought about that, although canvas is quite heavy and can be difficult to sew without a heavy duty sewing machine (or a sailmaker's palm)

It is only a liner, so heavy grade calico would probably be fine, and look good domestically! (Very important! )

Newspaper; once it looks dirty/full you can roll it up and burn it or use it as a fire lighter.

I used one of those fruit boxes in thin wood when we had a stove; you could burn them and all......
