    Old door locks

We have a bunch of old good locks in this house, however they are mostly incomplete.

Here's a photo of the style of lock in question.

I'm looking for the part that attaches to the door surround to latch to. Any idea what these are called so I can have a search about online? Not been successful so far.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Larkspeed.

Also found out that that kind of lock is a rim lock. (snigger).

How old is your house Funkstar? I've not seen a rim lock in a house for years.

    Re: Old door locks

It's oooold. The original structure dates back to about 1750, although it has gone through some massive changes since. It was two cottages and then knocked into one at some point, layout changed to suit, dormers added at the back, extended as well.

Only the upstairs rooms have rim locks. They aren't very nice, so I'm actually tempted to ditch them and fine much nicer ones with matching strike plates.

    Re: Old door locks

What you have there is a Rim Lock and the bit that goes on the door frame is called the Keep. Have a search on fleabay and you will find lots of old and brand new repros.

You need to size one that is the same height as the lock and in the same decorative style.
