Jewsons - ever used them?

I am in a massive pickle, between me & the girlfriend we managed to damage the bedroom door to the point where it doesn't close - don't ask! :p. Our lodger comes back tomorrow and I have several friends round next friday - sunday! We need a bedroom door :stupid:

Now, the door is a bloody awkward size 2040 x 720mm (generally 2cm too tall and 1cm too wide compared to the 'standard' door sizes. Jewsons do however stock the exact size door, and at a very reasonable price.

Does anyone know whow the stores work? Is it like Screwfix where you can buy from a counter? Do you need to order them in? Are they trade only?

They're not trade only, but they are set up more for trade transactions.
They have a fair stock though, but I'm sure you could ring in advance to check if it's a bit of a journey.
From when I've fitted doors in the past even if it's supposedly the right size it may still need slight adjustment. Do you have a plane?

They are ok, the deliver to your house too. I bought some Tiles from them last year, where £2 per title cheaper than Homebase at the time.

If you need it, they could also deliver the item straigt over your house' fence into the garden !

Being set up primarily for trade customers is quite annoying. The ones I've been into recently have very little on the shop floor for browsing, it's all in the warehouse part and nothing has prices, you have to check with the desk. It's definitely not B&Q. However, if you know what you want they are pretty good and the prices I've compared (especially for basic wood) are about half to two-thirds of B&Qs.

Sods law they are closed today! Will have to pay them a visit next week, cheers guys :)

Just remember. You trim the door to suit the frame, Unlike my neighbour who knocked lumps out of the door frames to suit the doors and made a right pigs ear of it.

I wondered why there was so much banging going on when he said he was fitting doors.

I work the IT for them so am going to say they are good ;)

This. Cut the door down to your frame.

Screwfix do some pretty close internal doors - open until 8:00pm - if they have it in stock you can order on-line and pick up 15 mins later
