I have something Im trying to open that is too thin for even a credit card to fit into, is there anything almost paper thin but strong enough I could use to try to pry this lid off somehow ( assuming its a lid ) ?
thanks

I've got some old butter knives that are quite strong, quite thin but totally blunt. I'd use the edge of one of those, because if it slips, you aren't going to slice bits off yourself, and to be honest, a bit of risk of damage to the knife blade doesn't bother me. Don't use good knives, and I'd suggest, don't use sharp ones.
Then, it's down to technique, and the key is patience. Don't be too harsh with applying pressure, and work your way around the lid. You're looking for a little bit of give, then move round. You do NOT want a massive give in one place, because if the lid moves at an angle, odds are it'll be stiffer.
And if that doesn't work, a lump of C4 will do it, though it might also damage the item, just a bit. It'll get it open, though. ;)
Edit - darn, too late. Note to self (again) .... always read last post in thread before replying.
Try some of that transparent plastic packaging. That's thin and stronger than steel.
Im not going to even tell you how I opened it .. or you'll think Im :woowoo:
BTW Have any of you used sugru ?
Im looking for silicone / rubber putty I can use to make an attachment that would fit over a knob ( strong and flexible enough so I can pull the knob in and out )

easiest/best tool: a spatula of the kind used in sculpture/oil painting - strong tensile or spring steel, very thin, sharp
