Converting inchs to m2 (meter square)
Im pretty good with working these things out but due to being a **** at school (man do i regret that) i missed how you do certain calculations! I've tried to teach myself with google and do have a good idea, i worked it out like this,
182inchs x 143inchs this is the front rooms size and im all about the inchs and mm XD
So i tried a few calculations and came to the conclusion that the front room is roughly 27 square foot, i then tried to convert that into square meter which as far as i know (and my tape measure tells me) there is 32inchs in a meter, roughly 2 and a half ft.
Now with all this i confused the hell out of myself and feel really dumb :( so can anyone correct me or help a bit?
To cut short i need to know the square meter for the front room and working it out i believe its 4.5m x 3.75m (if i have worked that out correctly) which i think is roughly 16m2?
Damn it i feel a headache coming on :undecided
Thanks guys!

16.7909 m2
You can convert inches to m, the multiply the length and width meters values, or use an online converter.

Your main problem is that your square foot value is wrong, should be
15.1667 x 11.8333 = 181 ish square feet

Thanks at least i got the square meter roughly right :)

Erm .... I've got s stinking headache at the moment, but unless my memory is worse than I thought, a metre certainly isn't 32 inches. More like 39. The number 39.36 inches per metre comes to mind.
EDIT -first conversion site I checked said 39.3700. Close enough, I guess.
Re: Converting inchs to m2 (meter square)
182 inches = 4.624m
143 inches = 3.633m
4.624 x 3.633 = 16.799 sq. m
That's my quick calc, with the headache, done at 39.36 in per metre.
I have NOT double-checked this.
Re: Converting inchs to m2 (meter square)
Converting it in that order is always going to be difficult, doing it with Saracen's method is much more logical.
You're converting inches to square inches, to square feet, to square metres, and then to metres.
The other option is to convert inches to metres in the first step, which is much simpler.
An inch is approximately 2.54cm, or 0.0254m. Therefore, 182inches x 143inches = 4.6228m x 3.6322m.
If you want the m^2, then you just multiply it out, so 4.6228m x 3.6322m = 16.79m^2 (to two decimal places). So more like 17m^2 than 16m^2.
And, of course, virtually the same as what Saracen said (to within one-hundredth of a square metre). So I'll offer myself as a double-checker :D

Actually it is exactly 2.54cm / 25.4mm or 0.0254m.
Mainly because the official yard no longer exists; rather it has been defined as a fraction of a meter since the 1890s. I though that was the final one but apparently the 1890 definition was 36/39.370113 which is 0.9143992042898124~. It was only in 1954 that it was rounded to exactly 0.9144 which divided by 36 is the magical 2.54cm.

Re: Converting inchs to m2 (meter square)
1 yard = 3 foot = 36 inches (12 inches in a foot)
1 inch = 25.4mm / 0.0254m
1 meter is therefore:
1 meter = 'x' inches
______
0.0254
x = 39.37 inches (equals 1 meter)
