Recommend me....a Gas/Elec Supplier!
We are soon to be setting up our new house and with it we need a new elec/gas supplier. It is a modern 4 bed detached property, EPC of 77 which will be lived in by myself and partner, and my daughter every other weekend (hopefully...).
I imagine we will be fairly light users of gas/elec!
Can anyone recommend any good tariffs for low rate users? I was with Utility Warehouse who seemed to be pretty good but I want to keep my options open.
Cheers guys :)
Re: Recommend me....a Gas/Elec Supplier!
I'm with utilitywarehouse and pretty happy with things.
I use their cashback card and save quite a chunk off my bill each month just through normal use.
Re: Recommend me....a Gas/Elec Supplier!
From one of the comparison sites (U Switch) I believe Southern Electric seemed to be the cheapest and had a good lock in tariff, factor in the cashback via Quidco as well! :)
Re: Recommend me....a Gas/Elec Supplier!
Tariffs are so complex, you really are better off using a comparison website. It might be worth sticking with your existing supplier for a while to get some idea of your energy use, but usage (obviously) is seasonal.
The comparison website energy calculators are reasonably accurate, so you could use that for your first year, then re-assess next year.
There are other considerations other than price, customer service, whether you favour 'green' suppliers and so on.
For what it's worth, I use e-On, which tends to work out the best value for me and my lifestyle, but that doesn't mean it would be best for you.

I found EDF was cheapest for me, but I'm electricity only - they have very good electricity tariffs, but if you're dual fuel you'll probably find a better deal elsewhere.

Turns out the edf blue tariff was cheapest by a long shot! :) Will look into the gas as a seperate though, thanks

Shop around. The end product to you is always the same thing. Only ones I actively avoid are npower as their 'customer services' were a pain in the butt for the few years we were with them, and on principle Southern Electric due their being a bunch of duplicitous lying rats on their door to door sales tactics. For us e-on have been good for a few years now. Deals keep changing which they never honour properly for more than 10 mins, but no worse than the rest overall.
