    Exclamation Halloween vandalism

A mate's living room window got hit with a stone and there's a large hole in it.
He was asking me for advice on how to fix it.

Now, what's the most efficient way of fixing this ?
Is there a magic spray that makes the glass grow ?
What about Home insurance covering it ? He has building only home insurance with esure. Dp you need to report it to Police first for this ?

And, most importantly, when did little kids become so violent ?

    Re: Halloween vandalism

It's nothing new, kids have been smashing windows for generations so things aren't getting worse (in fact, I'd say they're probably getting better).

Usual process is report to police, get crime number, go to insurance.

If it wasn't shatterproof before then insurance won't pay for shatterproof now.

But there's no need for shatterproof. If there's a problem with persistent window smashing then police will install (or ask him to install) cctv to help them catch the offenders and remove the source of the problem.

Shatter proof glass still breaks, it jus breaks safer (little lumps rather than big shards) to be more resistant to breaking you'd want double /triple glazing, but they're still possible t

That's Safty Glass, which is used in car windscreens. Toughened glass is similiar but goes through an extra process in the manufacturing to triple it's strentgh. It's typically used in shop windows, and still shatters into tiny fragments... but a normal stone or brick will bounce straight off it.

Good ol' discovery channle & "How It's Made"!

Laminate glass is what you want, costs you though and it still breaks just doesn't go through as easily.
