    Woodworm Advice please

    Hi,

We have some woodworm in the loft but it is only on a handful of rafters from what I can see there is no fresh powder so I am not convinced it is live however I am no expert. Could somebody with knowledge of woodworm give me advice on what type of beetle caused this and if I should be worried enough to get it professionally treated? We are getting a loft conversion done hence just trying to decide if it needs treating before that gets started

    Many thanks

    Austin

Not really my field. I'd suggest a professional for anything like this.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

    Re: Woodworm Advice please

Minor infestations don't affect the structural integrity of the wood very much (death watch beetle being an exception). However, if there has been woodworm before, the timbers haven't been treated and may be attacked in future.

So for your peace of mind, and to avoid any nasty surprises later, I'd get a professional opinion.
