Getting the Screws back in the jar
Lo people
Over many many weeks I've been trying different routes to getting all the screws back in the jar after finding a few I want.
Emptying onto newpaper and then lifting the paper by both ends and funnelling back into the jar is the classic way.... but it's still not great.
Besides.. I recently got some black plastic shallow trays (officially for pot plants to sit in) to emply the screws into.. work well, never loose a screw, easier to sort, and ... a bugger to get back into the jar after.
SOLUTION:
£1.02 ADD ON item from Amazon, use a saw.. and some spare stuff left over :)
You need these

Seriously.. I have bought them before because at just over £1 for 4 funnels, used for everything from filtering sloe gin into a bottle, to getting chainsaw oil and petrol into the right places... they're great.
But now.... take the largest one... CUT THE LONG BIT OFF THE BOTTOM ... AND CUT PART WAY UP THE FUNNEL UNTIL IT FITS THE JARS!
Hang on the wall... close by... use
It works :)
3 spare funnels for other jobs.
WIN

Cone on now g8ina, that was weak ;)
Gotta be honest, I'm a firm supporter of zip lock bags for random assortments or screws and bolts. You can even go the bagception, labled bags within bags route for vague sorting, which I tend to. Especially for the grab bag that lives in the bottom of my tool kit. Not that big Kenco jars of random fasteners don't make me feel a bit nostalgic...
I will however be buying some of those funnels next time I use Amazon. Funnels are like tape measures, you can own dozens of the things but you never seem to be able to find one when you really want one. Or at least that seems to be the case in my house!

Re: Getting the Screws back in the jar

oh that's a genius idea... you could even sort the screws through the poly bag.. until you get what you want.. AND they fit any box...
OK>. I'm doing that ....

Get one of these; http://www.poundland.co.uk/toolbox-c...ment-organizer
I use one to sort my bits of miscellany. The adjustable compartments are handy, plus its a pound! IMO, its easier than rifling through bags and bags since you can see everything at once.

Oh gosh, I thought you just had the one jar. If you need 100 of these boxes, it's far beyond any amount of screws I have ever owned. :P
