    Where to buy Fridge Freezers?

    Hi guys,

Parents' 11 year old American style fridge freezer is packing in and I have to task of looking for a replacement. Anyone have any recent experience of the best place to buy these? Traditionally they have always gone in-store to Currys and bought whatever looked good / on offer but now days of internet shopping there seems to be a lot of appliance websites that offer a larger range at decent prices. Are these site trust worthy / good customer service if things go wrong? or should I just stick to the Curry's website to play it safe?

Re: Where to buy Fridge Freezers?

Have used http://ao.com for several large appliances in the last year, probably the best mail order company I have ever used. Ordered 7pm, delivered next day with lots of updates and an ETA. Two blokes on the lorry so they could shift stuff. Looked at stuff in Curry's, they had it in the warehouse but more expensive and was nearly a week to deliver. AO also have quiet a lot of videos of the appliances on the website, which is a great idea.

Our fridge freezer is quite noisy. We would love a quiet one!

    Another AO vote here.
Slightly annoying with the 'confirmation' call that's a thinly veiled excuse to try and flog extended guarantees/insurance but the price and service you can't complain too much. I'd certainly use them again.
Can get a bit of cash back through Quidco as well iirc.

Re: Where to buy Fridge Freezers?

Thanks everyone for your input. AO.com positive feedback seems almost too good to be true XD

I've narrowed it down to 2 models, so I will let my father decide which one he likes better.

Wondering if it is worth to pay the #20 for installation. Already have the water pipe from the current one which I can I plug in myself, and my Father and I can probably handle lifting a fridge up 3 steps and 15 ft.

Will probably pay the #15 for the removal of our current one though.

Re: Where to buy Fridge Freezers?

    Another for AO here

We got an american style fridge/freezer delivered last year. They delivered on the weekend for the same price as weekday delivery and even brought it around the back andthrough the back door.

We plumbed it in ourselves and no leaks so far

Re: Where to buy Fridge Freezers?

I've had AO in my targets for a while now. New kitchen going in next week and will be getting all of my appliances from there. If you buy more than one large appliance you get £20 cashback for each additional thing. Which is nice.

Their prices do seem to fluctuate - the fridge I was looking to get has gone up an extra £100 in the last few weeks - but they'll price match so make sure you are positive it's the best price

I usually just pop into a local appliance shop and see if they have something I'm after.

AO. Just say no thanks to the life time warranty call. Cheap and quick delivery - very useful when an appliance breaks and you need replacement next day.

Re: Where to buy Fridge Freezers?

I would have said AO for online orders - however thats purely based on reputation as i've never actually placed an order with them. I do hear good things in general however.

Personally I buy from a local appliance shop and haggle - they have always managed to either match or beat the online pricing, with free local delivery, installation and removal of the old one (if required).

It does depend on your local shop I guess, but worth a shot as they usually have the power to flex their pricing

Re: Where to buy Fridge Freezers?

I got a nice LG side by side (American) fridge freezer. Would of got it from AO as I've used them before but it was an exclusive at Currys so I phoned up to check they would deliver it to my first floor flat...Was told on three separate occasions that it was fine and they would take it up there for me. Come delivery day they put it down on the main road and expected us to sign for it there. Fortuantly there was a bus coming down my narrow road so they agreed to move it to outside my front door. Wasn't very impressed with their service and regret using them. ....basically use AO or John Lewis
