    Storage in Ziploc bags

    Hi all

A while ago I began a thread about trying to get screws back in jars.....I have a lot of jars

Having invented a prefetly excellent funnel device... Knox pointed out that using Ziploc bags was easier.

I pondered it... and after many weeks... I just bought some Ziploc's and tried it

    BEFORE

this is the first batch of jars

Good stuff! Unless you want to get into drawer or sortimo systems it's the way forward in my opinion. Perfect for toolboxes too, I keep a big bag in the bottom of mine with everything inside it sorted into various sub groups in their own bags. No more tipping everything out on a table to find one screw!

Also, I use cheap freezer bags and a bag-sealer to keep things that belong together, together, and separated from items they need to be separated from. For instance, spare parts for an device, screws, bolts, etc, into a bag, with a written label, then heat-seal the bag.

Far too organised. Lids should bebscrewed to the bottom of a shelf and filled with assorted screws bolts and nuts. 0/10 would not organise again. There's not even a leaky battery ffs!

Wont the Screws Pierce the bags?

so far not... Ziploc bags are tough.. so far

besides.. they're CHEAP and if a few fall by the wayside, so be it.

When I drop a jar on my garage floor.... the screws pierced the jar and shattered.. and I spend an hour making sure my kid/feet/cars are gonna be OK!

Hadn't thought about that, Ziplocks are likely to cut your foot if you drop them

    Re: Storage in Ziploc bags

For added durability you can sling the ziplocks into woven poly sacks. You can also shave most of the ziplock cost off by buying the non-branded-but-just-as-good ones.

As a side note, most of the fastener industry uses ziplocks, poly bags, and various sizes of woven poly sacks for client delivery if the client hasn't ordered box quantities; so you're in good company. They're also usually quite happy to sling a few your way in return for nothing/biscuits

You could also put the more commonly used items in small stackable storage bins:
Post Counts and Other Rewards, Rules, Folding@Home, Fans: Push vs Pull vs Push-Pull, Corsair PSU OEMs.
