    Caulking / sealant gun recommendations?

I thought I might need to do some caulking work around the house, so bought a very cheap gun last year to see how I went.

    A) I have used it more than I expected
    B) I have destroyed it

Basically the nozzle was a bit gunked up, and when I pulled the trigger it just bent the metal.

So, HEXUS, what do you recommend?

got mine from homebase. Solid. Lasted several years so far.

The moral of the story here is don't use old cartridges with set material in the nozzle! NB a good caulking gun does not have its own nozzle - it uses the one from the tube itself. If the nozzle is bent you don't need a new caulking gun, just a new cartridge!

Re: Caulking / sealant gun recommendations?

I bought a caulking gun from one of the big chain pound shops a long time ago, I've only ever used it four times and it has yet to show signs of wear other than the smudges of sealant, everywhere.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I have also used a Makita cordless electric calking gun once, it's a really very nice bit of kit, especially it's consistency in dispensing goo, but at well over £100 body only, I'll put that purchase off for another day - there's a Makita cordless circular saw I have my eye on.
