Satellite dish + LNB
Just bought our first house and need to sort out a satellite dish, there is currently a dish fitted but the cables been cut and the LNB is single output. Are all dishes + LNBs about the same, or are any better than others, preference is to fit once and leave it for years. Is there any advantage to changing the dish, or just change the LNB?
Cheers

Re: Satellite dish + LNB
We use Sky for our services and when we have moved house they usually just replace the lnb and leave the dish as is (with SkyQ they literally reused cables and just replaced lnb).
So I would say if the dish is aligned correctly then just work on the lnb

Re: Satellite dish + LNB
No they are not the same, I used to replace LNB's as one of my contracts and the stuff we had didn't always work well with the dish depending on it's age. Most LNB's come with a universal arm to fit the 3 main dish arm types but that didn't mean they "just" worked as a few would need a new dish as the distance would be off.
For what it's going to cost you may as well replace the lot, just eyeball the new and old dish to figure out the rough alignment then using a headset and your phone get the other half watching the signal on the setup page to get it strong. To future proof as best as possible fit an 8 way LNB and a zone 2 dish to get the best possible signal in bad weather. You can find out the LNB skew from googling.
