Need a specific sort of magazine storage, any ideas

Am looking for something a bit like these ikea magazine boxes http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/s...-art-50187340/ but to put flat on a shelf, so I can slide paper or magazines in them spine outward and separate them from a pile on top, & make better use of some deep shelves. Just a temporary thing while I sort a more purpose shelving arrangement, so they just need to be cheapish & something I can use again elsewhere either separately or together. These would be fine laid flat but the long end needs to be open rather than the short end. Anyone got anything similar?

They could be a bit like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Magazine-or...=box+file+rack but these would probably not be tough enough & it's more than I want to pay for 1.

    thanks

    LO CHAP

you need A4 letter trays...like people have in an office on their desks. Those are sometimes wide side open and stack too.

you need to find an office clearance space...someone somewhere has millions of them, because companies in closure leave this stuff behind

    this type of thing

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/entry-econo...Z3GR1X8VX6059W

look for "wide entry letter tray" on ebay.,.

Re: Need a specific sort of magazine storage, any ideas

Yes and no.. if used as intended that would make a deeper space than ideal so each pile would still be a bit deep or else waste space. And they're a bit un-streamlined. Ideally I want something really simple, I suppose a bit like the effect of box file holders http://industrialshelvinguk.co.uk/st...ack-of-10.html if they came as single boxes, and were sturdy. Then I could use them again any way up for something else. I mean there are nicer things.. these from Ikea again http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/s...-art-10292102/ but that's getting nearer to what I want to end up with anyway, storage tower-wise http://www.storage4crafts.com/shopx/...A4%20Empty.gif so it'd be a bit pointless when I only need a temporary thing.
BUT I admit I had forgotten letter trays came wide-sided, and I COULD stack them directly in theory, without the risers. So it's definitely an idea.

Came here expecting to talk about firearm magazines!!

Would it not be easier to just go in with whatever permanent solution you're after?

I think this would be ideal http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/s...-art-00324132/

Ideal for storing magazines and can fold flat when not in use. They do last a long time as I had them for over ten years.

Re: Need a specific sort of magazine storage, any ideas

Sorry I haven't caught up with this (been a bit hampered in the tech dept lately). It's not huge quantities but will be added to - & I am happy to make do, but - it'll annoy me if it doesn't function well. Letter trays that I've seen are just sliiightly too wide unfortunately.

@Ttaskmaster - I want to take my time deciding what the ideal thing'll be and I'm not totally sure what dimensions I need yet (depending on stuff like what space in the house/what room I give over to this sort of storage.. I'm halfway through making an office space but have a few other factors to consider).

@Top-gun - they are v similar to the ikea plywood ones so technically they have the wrong side/s open.. but SO cheap it's tempting - I can't quite imagine them taking the weight of heavy magazines lying flat without bowing however? & ideally I'd rather be able to easily slide one magazine or book/papers whatever out, front way on, rather than move/ disturb anything else. But they would come in useful anyway.

Otherwise - I cobble something up myself out of mdf or something. I was thinking maybe 1 flat surface & a pair of flat sides, & stack 'em maybe. Or just flat mdf shelves & small brackets but a simple flat box to slide in & out would be easier & handier in future.

Reminds me of when I asked a US firm for a shipping quote for a 'small magazine'. Emailed me back in no uncertain terms to say it was 'strictly illegal to send any & all gun parts overseas' & were probably all set to blacklist & investigate me. Cue hasty clarification.
