Garden shed lighting
Hi folks,
I'm trying to get the best lighting for a shed and thought I'd pick up one of those SMD LED strips.
You can get 5m of it for just over a tenner and I thought it'd be a good energy saving alternative to something like a halogen lamp like I have now plus it's flexible so I could weave it around the roof.
Any other suggestions?
Cheers
Rob

Is your shed going to be used just as basic storage for garden paraphernalia, or are you wanting to use it as a workshop/man cave/retreat?

Re: Garden shed lighting
I would advise against LED strips if they're in plain view, the light from each LED is not well diffused and is quite harsh. But then again, my LED preferences are lets say, quite refined.
That said, I do like LED strips when they're out of view though, for example as up-lighting, e.g. stuck down to a roof beam facing at an upwards angle so that the ceiling diffuses the light.
Other than LED stips, LED or fluorescent battens would be my weapon of choice for a shed, http://www.screwfix.com/c/electrical...ens/cat3640003

Re: Garden shed lighting
In my shed I use cheap Ikea led usb desk lamps (JANSJÖ) that cost £2 each. Connected to a usb powered hub. I painted the ceiling white and use the lamps as uplights. The white ceiling diffuses the harsh white light, illuminating the entire shed in an even soft light that is good enough to read by.

Re: Garden shed lighting
I ended up with a 5m run of leds which works a treat, can't use the dimmer else it buzzes madly but the light output is perfect for about 60w I think , I might get some frosted sheet to diffuse it but I'm in no rush :)
