All in one steam/carpet cleaner?

Hi folks,

We have been talking lately about getting a steam cleaner. However, we also need to clean carpets. Is there anything which does both? I know some of the Karcher stuff has different bits etc to use it as a steam cleaner for a variety of surfaces. Is there anything which does this but also cleans carpets well? Or do you need two devices?

the honest answer is no. but may I suggest you pop along to your local tool hire shop and ask that question there. I worked in the hire trade many years ago there certainly was not a piece of equipment like that then but things may have changed
