Hive for £120 inc installation - good deal?

    Just saw this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011B3J6F4/

That looks like a great deal (half price?). The version without installation is more expensive!

Am I missing something? And does anyone have any experience with this compared to Nest or Tado?

Well, it is a bargain if yoy were thinking about getting a smart thermostat.

I don't think there is much to choose between Hive (developed by British Gas IIRC) and Nest (now owned by Google.

Hive compatible accessories seem more plentiful and slightly cheaper than Nest compatible accessories.

I have a nest and I think the unit looks nicer than Hive, but that is just personal preference. I probably wuldnt change, but again thats because I'm used to NEST and it does what I want.

I have Hive and it's a decent system, does the usual smart thermostat stuff.
Installation isn't hard, but if it's bundled in, why not? Saves you having to muck around with your boiler.

I wouldn't recommend Tado these days as they have gone down the route of crippling the features of their system unless you pay them a subscription.

My gripe with Hive is it disconnecting from the hub once every 2-3 weeks and needing a power cycle to reconnect. Whether that is just me, I'm not sure.

I had that for a while at my old house - but it was my old TP Link router at fault. After replacing it, Hive never dropped out again.
