    Ugly kitchen taps

I had a pair of the these, or near enough https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rc...51902450149330 the last time I replaced my kitchen taps, chose them more or less randomly & quickly, haven't needed any since so haven't really kept up with what's out there.

Come to look for something similarish, all there now seems to be is these ugly blighters https://tapstore.com/value-lever-hig...RoCiFcQAvD_BwE that look like they should be in a hospital or kitchen (budget so presumably intended for pretty much that). Well I'll go up the price range then, thinks me, and find nothing in this style - sink taps, bath taps yes, kitchen, no. Just variations on these, with these tops that look like they have been jammed down like a bucket over Mr Tap's head.

Ok people like mixers & whatnot & there is plenty of other fancy stuff, victorian stylee & whatever, but in this bracket my point is (as with many things) - why make a cheap & cheerful ugly tap, when with 2 minutes more thought & design input you can produce something better? Blah.

Don't know if any of these float your boat?

Thanks - they're much of a type in that it's the flat (spoon? golf club? hockey stick) shaped levers I don't like, compared to the simple round one on mine.. they look really utilitarian. And I really like my old straight spout. This is actually ok looking https://www.taps4less.com/PP/MA-KIT015.html but it's a mixer . As I say you can get similar https://www.plumbase.co.uk/suregraft...010536-2209519, https://www.diy.com/departments/cook.../172625_BQ.prd, just in everything but a kitchen tap.

Have to agree. I liked the simplicity of your original taps and everything now just looks meh!

Most folks have mixers these days so that's where the design effort goes. Not sure I'd like a kitchen sink with separate taps.

True, & it may have to come to that, but it just seems to me it doesn't take much to come up with something like my originals - all it mostly is is, swapping out a couple of details (like mine had a simple etched H & C & not the blue & red cheapo whatsits, that's no big design effort). Plus you can get ornate separate taps with lots of design elements, so why not simple but groovy separate taps.

Incidentally, what's wrong with your current taps?

Could the old taps be revived with some bits? https://www.screwfix.com/c/bathrooms...&page_size=100

They're just getting on a bit, would need a good clean off of limescale & need new cartridges anyway, so I just at that point thought I may as well go for new - thinking getting the actual taps would be simple.

Tap revivers are fine but they are pretty much just the styles I've seen that I don't like, so none that are any improvement on just getting a tap with that same top. I'm on first name terms with everything in notjusttaps &c already having just replaced my bathroom valves & yes, I could just swerve & renovate my own, I suppose, but I'd rather do that as a conscious decision not because tap designers have failed me

It's the principle.. seeing something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chrome-Ba...0AAOSwfiZcdrG0 going begging £9.99 post free with chrome plug is just.. can't count the times the thing one doesn't want, someone is virtually giving away with a free house & a holiday on ebay - & there is not even any logic to me, why the only tap you can't get in this style is the one I want. Maybe I'll buy these & start a stunted kitchen tap trend.
