    Question Nest Google Products

    Anyone bought?

    • Nest Protect
    • Nest Hello
    • Nest IQ Camera Outdoor
    • Nest IQ Camera Indoor

Are these worth the money? I am aware of cheaper variants on the market but from what I've seen, cheaper ones don't seem to be as durable or lack in some of the features.

I've also just seen today that you can buy silicon gel skins that can match the colour of the house for the outdoor camera which is a nifty idea.

    Thoughts?

    Re: Nest Google Products

Got 2 Nest Protects at home (Fire and CO detector) and well as the Nest Thermostat (which we had first). Went with the battery versions and got a triple pack and sold the spare one to a friend.

There is some really nice features like getting spoken alarm (cause the current thinking is at night you are more likely to wake up if you here voices than an alarm), the self testing and monitoring in the app, the led ring that shows that everything is working OK when you turn the lights off at night, the night light if it detects movement at night.

Been very impressed with them, expensive though.

    Bought?

    Nope. Google, innit.

Just my perspective. I see that name, and I lose interest.

Yes same set up here - bought before Nest was swallowed up by Google

    Re: Nest Google Products

A friend of mine has a series of Nest products. He demo'd the 'Hello' to me, and it was very impressive. If I didn't live in a flat I'd probably invest in one. He remarked that the rest of his best stuff was pretty solid.

    Re: Nest Google Products

Problem with the Nest Hello is that it constantly uploads 24/7. Fine if you have great (and unlimited) upload speeds, but our 80mb/20mb just isn't gonna cut it! For that reason, I got the Ring Pro instead.

I have the Nest thermostat. Got it before it was bought by Google...
