    Re: Lean-to Bike Shed

I did something! Not much but the ball is rolling again. I measured, measured again, did some calculations, remeasured and then measured again. After that I cut one of the wall sections mostly straight A lick of primer on the cut edge and that was my lunch break. This was the simple low wall opposite the garage wall - full width panels - one whole one and a cut piece on top. Will need to get some noggins cut before attaching. Will see whether I'm inspired to do that next or to try a slope for an end wall!

    Re: Lean-to Bike Shed

Rain has frustratingly stopped play repeatedly this week. Paint bought on Monday from Wilko and I had a good outing on Tuesday evening and got a coat on the two pieces that make up the first wall. And then we've had drizzle, a little bit of rain, and more drizzle. Every time I've tried in an evening or lunch since no luck! The boards themselves are holding up fine out in the rain at least!

So the paint didn't go on super well, assuming water based on oil. I did paint myself into a bit of a corner. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, should have gone with marine ply rather than OSB to simplify but it'll be ok. Needed oil based primer on the OSB otherwise it can swell, nice colours only come in water based. I should have just painted the unseen sides in white oil based rather than the blue I've started with but nevermind! We'll get there in the end.

Another coat hopefully this weekend then need to buy another tin or two, only available in small and they don't go that far! Also running out of excuses not to start cutting some more wood. Need the noggins for the side I've done before I can put it all together and then to get started on the far wall, might flip that order though so I can go straight to putting it together once walls are done. Also need some more long screws to secure it to the wall, I have 6 the right sort of size in my random collection so will measure and pick up a box.

    Re: Lean-to Bike Shed

Second coat on at lunch today:

I used a small roller this time which was much better than a (large) brush, and also meant I used a small brush for the edges. All in all a successful hour including prep, clean-up and writing this up Will be able to pick up more paint at the weekend when we're in town. Hopefully can get some chop chop chopping done in the evenings as well.

    Feeling positive!

    Re: Lean-to Bike Shed

First (simple) wall all fixed together, noggings went in with only one adjustment on length (I cut generously!) and lots of nails. Even PVA'd the join which I'm sure I read somewhere was a thing.

Just doing some trig now for the end sloping wall as they're quite large and heavy so need to get a move on before I end up with too many things I can't move. I've got (at least some of) Saturday to work on this so need to see if I can cut the OSB and get it painted before hand so I'm not waiting for things to dry too long.
