    Moss Killer Recommendations?

Have got a lot of moss growing between the paving slabs in the back garden. It's quite a large area so going to need a sprayed to apply the solution but what solution.

Anyone got any recommendations for anything that actually works on killing moss between paving slabs? They are a million products that say they do that but too many times have bought things to just find they are absolutely useless.

I don't mind whether its chemical, natural, whatever, not bothered at all. As long as it gets the job done.

    Thanks
    Jon

    Re: Moss Killer Recommendations?

Yeah, not sure the blowtorch idea would work, flame thrower maybe but failing that something a little more discreet will probably be better

I did read that about iron sulphate, staining the slabs probably won't get me in anyone's good books

Blow torch will work, and is 'better' for the environment than chemicals, just how bad is it?!

    Re: Moss Killer Recommendations?

That moss is a little ecosystem. It feeds the mites and grubs that the next tier eat. Leave it be. Plus by not burning it it's helping keep a smidge of CO2 out the atmosphere - twice over, in transpiration and not being burnt.

We have a fair bit of moss here, and unless it's blocking the drainage we've learned to just accept it. I've started showing my son the bugs in the garden and suddenly it has a new appreciation.

    Re: Moss Killer Recommendations?

Normally I would agree but this place is rented and I have a house inspection coming up and keeping the paving clear of moss/debris is actually in the agreement! I kid you not.

    Re: Moss Killer Recommendations?

If permanently paved then presumably salt solution would work fine, or try vinegar, or bleach. You won't be able to grow anything there for a very long time.
