    Zak's CLUB SANDWICH..the BEST ;)

OK...guys...this is the ULTIMATE SARNIE.......and its sadly nowt to do with Sair

You need 3 slices of white thick sliced bread.......toast ALL 3. Light golden brown.

Grill 6 rashers of bacon...crunchy people, not nuked...and DONT MICROWAVE IT

Get ICeburg lettuce, and slice it into slivers, like on the McDonalds adverts.

    Slice up one tomato.

    Allow toast to cool

Spread Mayonaise thickly on all 3 slices of toast.

Lay the lettuce on two on the slices over the mayo.

Lay the tomatoes over the lettuce again on two out of 3

Lay 3 slices of bacon on each of the tomato and lettuce slides

    Grind salt onto one

    Grind pepper onto the other...

Stack one on top of the other and then the last slice of mayo'd toast on top......push down with a little vigour...

    Cut DIAGONALLY....

    DONE

    or.....

    Ultimate Steak Sarnie

    Ingredients

1 red onion, peeled and finely sliced
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    1 ciabatta
    4 tsps olive oil
    1 tsp Dijon mustard
    2 tsps grated Parmesan
    150g (5oz) Mozzarella, sliced
300g (11oz) rump steak, thinly sliced or frying steak
    1 beef tomato, sliced

    Method

Place a frying pan over a high heat and add a teaspoon of olive oil. Fry the onion and garlic for two to three minutes until soft, but not browned – remove from the pan and keep warm; return the pan to the heat.

Slice the ciabatta loaf in half horizontally, then drizzle a little of the olive oil over each cut side.

Thinly spread the Dijon mustard on the cut side of the bottom half of the bread, then sprinkle both halves with the Parmesan.

Arrange the Mozzarella slices evenly on the cut side of the top half then place both pieces under a hot grill until the cheese has melted and the edges of the bread are golden brown.

Drizzle a little oil over the steaks and season well. Place them into the hot frying pan and cook for one to two minutes each side, depending on thickness, turning once or twice. Remove steaks from the pan and allow to rest for a few minutes. Meanwhile, return pan to heat, add more olive oil and gently fry the tomato slices to absorb some of the steak juices from the pan.

To serve – lay the steak on the bottom bread half. Top with the tomatoes and pour over any juices from the pan, then sprinkle over the onions. Top with the other half of the bread, cut in half and have half each.

    Awesome!!!!!

....sounds yum though! But I could never develop a sandwich like that cos it would go all soggy in a plastic pack

My fave lunchtime snack at the mo is my new Sainsbury one (!!) Goats Cheese and Sun Blushed Vegetables (yellow peppers, courgettes, red onion & tomato marinated in olive oil and oregano) with Wild Rocket on Tomato & Basil bread.... mmmmm!!!!

PS That's not a plug for extra sales or anything!!!! Honest... perfectly possible to make at home...

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

    These sounds awesome

Really gonna have to try some, my own little after pub snack (that im about to go and make providing we have the stuff) consists of -

    4 Petie Pois (sp?)
    reasonble sized thin steak
    mushrooms
    onions
4 Cheese slices (thats right people your in student territory now!)

cook the steak to your taste (medium rare personally), then fry the onions n mushrooms, slice open the petie pois things (still can't remember how to spell that) and cram as much steak, mushroom and fried onion into each as is humanly possible. tear cheese slices into strips and place on top of the concotion you've just created, put that under the grill to melt the cheese and voila!

You've just made heart failure all the more iminent but in a very tasty way

dunno ...sometimes, when you are hungry and had a few beers, ONLY a really good steak sarnie does it....

you gotta slice the beef thin.....kinda fillet it down its length....thwn grill, then slice so that the eater doesnt have to "tear" at it.

I love them as much as they did

Tikka Chicken Sarnie was my favourite, It was warmed too, and included lettuce which I did eat (yes shock horror i did eat a green veg) in some fairly nice bread. Really tasty and really great for lunch.

My other fav at the pub near here is Bacon and Chicken Bagette. Warmed bread with hot bacon and cold chicken.

They serve it with a red onion Garnish. Its a perfect TiG meal
