    Sunday Roast

It's a bit of a tradition isn't it & a time for family too, often the only day of the week when everyone sits down to have a meal together. But who still does it these days? Talking to people here & there it seems to be dying out.

Do you do a Sunday Roast? Do you do good yorksire puddings that rise properly? Do you not partake & do something else?

Hell yeah...Sunday roast is the daddy for curing hangovers and other nasty feelings people tend to have on a Sunday.

    Re: Sunday Roast

    We do.

Now I've moved out I still go to the 'rents for a Sunday Roast. In the summer we have sunday barbeque instead.

Also helped the teensy Hangover I had yesterday.

Chicken and bread sauce with proper gravy!

My mum does wicked Yorkies, but she went to catering school so you'd expect it!

    Re: Sunday Roast

Had Chicken this week, proper home made sausagemeat stuffing too yum!

With proper gravy too, no Bisto granules, made with the meat juices. And of course the carcass is in the soup pot for tonight's supper

    Re: Sunday Roast

Most Sundays I'll go to my parents place for a sunday roast, it's something I look forward to.

Even when I lived with my parents it was usually the only meal we'd eat together as I spend most of my time working abroad.

    Re: Sunday Roast

We didnt do Sunday dinners in my old house. It was Mince and Tatties Tuesday, when my grandpa came round for tea. Moved out now though, so we're going to have to make up a dish-day of our own

    Re: Sunday Roast

Sunday Evening in my abode is usually curry night when we can be bothered. We go through the menu and look for something different to try as having the same thing all the time is a bit on the dull side and as they say 'variety is the spice of life'.

However, eating this after a sunday roast can be a bit of a challenge so we only have it on the odd weekend now.

What I want to know is why people don't eat sprouts more apart from with the usual Sunday dinner?

True, I love sprouts me, and they do taste good in a veg curry A much (and imo undeservedly) maligned traditional vegetable.

And Turnips, do other people still eat turnips? or Swede, mmm... swede & carrot mash... or roast parsnips

    Re: Sunday Roast

I have to say its something I miss from home. We have them very occasionally, but its diffcult to do anything halfway decent for 2 people without having a joint that's too small so dries out or eating it for a week after.

In general thought you can't beat an end bit of pork with stuffing that's been cooked under the meat so it goes all caramelised, parsnips & buckets of really thick (meat juice) gravy.

All of those plus leeks in white sauce and cauliflower cheese ... the more tasty veg the better

I don't cook a roast at home as it's far too much effort for one person. Instead, it's off to the parents' or down to the Old Shire Inn for a carvery
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.
