    Riverside goes fishing...

    Anyone see this last night?

Talk about nice looking food and dishes that looked rather tasty indeed and not only that a doddle to cook in under 10 minutes.

I shall be experimenting at the weekend and trying to recreate a few of these.

It looks like this is going to be an excellent series with some crazy fish and seafood dishes.

    Yeah that as well.

I'm not one for watching this artsy cooking programs and caught it 1/2 way through but was impressed with the simplicity and ease his dishes were made with.

Hugh is a bit of a hero of mine, he shows where food comes from, shows how its killed, butchered, cokks it, and eats it. Theres quiet an active forum on the river cottage website, well worth a look.

yeah, Hugh is fantastic. One of these blokes that would probably be great to get steaming drunk in a pub with. Probably on cider too

I know what you mean about artsy cooking programs Lee, but the River Cottage series are probably some of the best. Real food and real cooking.

Yeap and I tried one of his prawn dishes the other night.

I used the tray from the grill on the gas cooker on top - heated it up.... opened the back door to get rid of the smoke from the bits stuck to it and then cooked the prawns with the mix he did.

It was devine and even the cat was attacking me to get some of them.

    Re: Riverside goes fishing...

Big fan of Hugh here, sadly I rarely get to watch his programs. Really got to get myself a PVR.

I was given 'The River Cottage Meat Book' for Christmas last year (or possibly the year before?) and highly recommend it- I think I saw that someone- possibly WH Smiths?- is doing it for under a tenner now which for a massive hardback cookbook is great value (my wife paid about £20 I think). He's totally converted me to his way of thinking, and I never buy pork or chicken that isn't at least outdoor reared or free range, or preferably organic. Trouble is it's a bit harder to convince my wife, and it's more or less impossible to get organic chicken or pork in pubs/ restaurants/ takeaways, so I still eat a bit of 'cruelty meat'.

Recently I got a book of his newspaper articles, 'Hugh Fearlessly Eats It All' out of the library and really enjoyed it. At the same time I got out 'The Nasty Bits' by Anthony Bourdain which I enjoyed even more.
