Never touched Foie Gras either, but would be interested to see if anyone had tried the Faux Gras?

actully looking at the diagram, the arse would more likely be included in the leg than the chump.
Looking at the diagram you get more groin than arse in a chump

If the Sea Bass is done properly - it'll convert you to fish in a big way... I Know - I did Sea Bass for the mother in law, who doesn't "do" fish as a rule, and she LOVED it

I had the Tronchon of Foie Gras Pain D’Epice, Kumquat & Gran Marnier Compôte and the wife had the Isle of Skye Langoustines,Smoked Belly Pork, Celeriac Mousse, Shellfish Cappuccino. Have to admit I was gagging a bit, I didn't really like it. I've had Foie Gras in France and it was more like a pate, this looked like it was literally the insides of something or other on my plate. The Wife is still talking about the langoustines now, she said they were delicious.
Main Meal: I went for the Venison and I'm totally converted. I had it medium rare, it was sublime and the blackberries were a nice accompaniment - think there was some beetroot there as well. The wife went for the seabass with crispy skin and moist fish, she loved the sauce.
We then had some sort of crushed ice and apple thing, which I assume was to freshen the palette.
Then, onto the desserts. The parsnip parfait was also beautiful, tasted like parsnip ice-cream to be honest. Wife had the Hot Chocolate Fondant Basil Ice Cream, Lemon Curd - I tasted a bit and that too was scrumptious.
At £46 a head, it did seem a bit indulgent, but it was worth the experience - we don't normally do this. All of the dishes looked fabulous and it was worth it just to get my first taste of venison.
Then it was up to the bedroom for a relaxing bath (which was in the bedroom, in front of the TV and fit 2 people!), a few glasses of vino and some boxing on the TV was enjoyed (who says romance is dead?) Ahhh, how the other half live.
Same time next year I hope!

Glad you enjoyed it Steven.
So, are you going to be more open with trying new things in the future?
If you like venison its worth having a look around farmers markets, my local one is a lot cheaper than the supermarkets for good quality meat.

Was that Fishmore hall? It got a good review - Fishmore, no less ยป Shropshire Magazine , the food sounds excellent.
Also Foie Gras is the liver itself I believe, Pate Du Foie Gras is the pate made from the liver, which is probably what you had in France
The Caped Crusader :-)
That was the place. It has very modern decor inside and modern bedrooms, even though it looks like an old manor house from the outside. Made to feel very welcome though
One thing though, because the restaurant has only recently opened it's yet to gain a reputation in the area, so it's lacking a bit in atmosphere. Of course, that doesn't affect the food, which was top class.
How on earth did you know that?
