I'm quite partial to them , although my lower intestine tends to complain loudly ;)
rumor has it you can make a v nice coleslaw from em !
oooo sprout-slaw eh..sounds good :)
I like sprouts..very nice.
I like a sprout. Although I'm not sure on the recommended 4 minute quick boil time.
Sprouts are great, as long as they are properly cooked and not over cooked (don't ever cross the bottom of them)
They are pretty good sliced up in a stir fry.
Very good for you too.
As long as they arent crunchy they are great.
They MUST be soft and squishy.
Any which way, so long as they're not cooked to death.. fresh crunchy ones are the best - 10 minutes in the steamer does em to PERFECTION.. and they're healthier too ;)
Could eat them all day, usually have them a few times a week, not just at Xmas.
Sprouts ftw.
Well, the results of this poll are rather unexpected...
I neither hate not love 'em. I'll have them if they're on the plate, if not, I won't complain.
People hating sprouts is a myth I reckon. Its more of a kids thing - kids don't like to eat their greens. Adults who don't eat their greens are usually just thick or American, or both.
Loves em !! :rockon2:
hate em, but dad always sticks a couple on my plate at the xmas dinner :s
like im going to change my mind after 33 years..
love em
Sliced them up then stir fry them with some crushed almonds and bits of bacon.
Did them like that for a Christmas dinner for some friends a few years back. Asked them afterwards if they liked the sprouts and some of them didn't even know that they had eaten any sprouts!
Brussel sprouts are not particularly appealing, and are not popular in the US, however this doesn't mean that all Americans won't eat their veggies, it just means we have better taste in veggies than you all. (except the majority of Americans who really don't eat veggies, except katchup which at least for a while while Regan was president counted as a vegetable for school lunches!)
Sprouts and their sympathisers: Burn them! Burn them all!
Foul little beasts.
Hate em!
Smell like sweaty socks and make me blow serious chunks, really hate them all the more when they are overdone and squishy in your mouth. Currently banned from our Christmas dinner at home!
Absolutely adore them. Cooking?...just get them right...nothing worse than overcooked or raw.
Another sprout hater here. My mum used to hide them under other veg when I was a kid to make me eat them :puke:
Horrible, horrible, horrible things. Down with sprouts, I say!
Hate them. But then they are green vegetables. :)
TiG
It's not just their vegetable greenness: I like asparagus, broccoli and peas.
Ergo, sprouts are a satanic invention placed here to tear civilisation apart and descend us all into nanocabbage hell.:angst:
Ill suffer them at christmas but only as long as they arent over cooked.
Love them.
I usually get loads on christmas dinner and then suffer the after effects later.
I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate the damned things.
They always taste sour to me (to the extent they make my cheekbones ache.)
Sprouts = Satan's balls. When I become galactic emperor I shall ban them so enjoy them while they last, weirdos!!! :P
The Yanks have little taste in most things, me thinks, but given that you are the fattest peeps on Gods green Earth, I think its safe to say you are not a nation of great veg eaters.
After all, if you were, you wouldn't all be fat bitches.
You dig, homes?
I think you do.
Sprouts = one of the best Veg on the planet
Friend calls the the devils eys and taught his kid this obviously his kid dont like them even though he has been told he is not allowed to eat them just because his dad dont like them..
Atleast Sprouts have taste unlike half the other veggies which taste like the water you boiled/steamed them in!
It seem a bit rich of you to call us "fat _____" given that the UK is in 3rd place worldwide:

Ah but where's the fun if I don't. Now I get a chance a perfect chance to have Stewart make me look like an idiot
Like 'em all soft and squishy..sprouts i mean.
Ooooh one fact I learned at a museum a long time ago when I went on a school trip...
Liking or disliking sprouts is largely genetic.
Some people can detect the taste of a chemical in sprouts which is very bitter - others can't detect it. So on the whole people who detect it don't like them; those that don't, do: Of course some people may like the bitter taste? A bit like beer... I don't actually like that (the only man on the boards who doesn't? :().
As for sprouts... Love em! (Sweet and not bitter for me, I guess I have a sprout detecting-crippled tongue).
jesus this poll has really turned towards the anti-sprouters, catching up like mad.... they must only frequent at weird hours
The UK position is distorted by the Scots, who eat deep fried Mars bars and the like. Take them out and just count English fatties, and we'll be somewhere in the middle I bet.
30.6... thats almost a different species. :)
The US position is distorted by Southerners, who eat deep fried everything and the like. Take them out and just count Northern and Western fatties and we'd be somewhere in the middle I bet.
23.0... that's almost like being part of the different species. :)
The Soviet Russia position is distorted by Sprouts, who eat YOU
perhaps i CAN taste the chemicals, but have suicidal tendancies (arent they one of these things thats poisonous to certain animals like cabbage?)
probably not quite.. but one of only a few who actively dislike it i would have thought. do you like cider?Quote:
A bit like beer... I don't actually like that (the only man on the boards who doesn't? :( )
Don't like Beer either..and guinness makes me shiver..lager is okay with a large dose of lime in it.
Sprouts and a lager and lime..a deadly combo.
Another vote for sprouts here - one of my favourite vegetables when cooked properly; not too hard and not too soft but cooked (streamed) just right :)
I hated sprouts as a kid. My mother always cooked them (and carrots) so they were still slightly crunchy. They always tasted horrible to me. Now I really like them, but only the way my wife showed me to cook them. Simmered in lots of slightly salty water until very very soft. The pan must not have a lid on it during the cooking (same goes for most green vegetables - a tip from Raymond Blanc). Then doused in melted butter and a couple of twists of black pepper.
Brussels Sprouts are great but I think only go well with very heavy & old fashioned meat dishes and only as a complementary side dish [not the main side dish]. Beer roast & roast potatoes & brussels sprouts, for example. yumm.
Shame that the poll has closed, another +1 for sprouts here.
whats buckfast like for calories?
:p
Hmm... Well, I like refreshing aspect of the occassional lager/beer (what is the defined difference? I'm so totally blaspheming here :p). But I have to drink it slowly or I just get a horrible bitter taste... :P. I'm not one to drink lots of it, so i'm sort of on the line of not liking and liking. In general if i'm to drink, I won't have it; i'll have something else.
Cider, however... I like that. Not bitter, kinda like a weird alcoholic apple juice (well, it is really!).
