    Inspired Fahitjas

Left with little left in the cupboard, but inspiration hit.

    Small fine chopped onion.
    Browned some finely chopped beef
Added a few small amounts of spices nothing too much.
Cracked a lot of pepper and added to mixture.
Added some cream and let sauce simmer down to a lovely thick texture.
Placed in fahitjas and eat with wedges.

Not the usual experience with fahitjas but the creamy peppery sauce really worked wonders.

Really different experience with fahtijas and damn fine

    Thumbs up Re: Inspired Fahitjas

Sounds nice, will have to try it. But honestly, who just has fajitas sitting around their house? You people are odd. As I have learned thus far, (as I am not born British), a proper British house hold should have the following staple foods at all times:
    • Bread
    • Bacon
    • Red/Brown Sauce
    • Beer
    • Milk
    • Potatoes
    • Frozen Pizza
    • Left Over Curry

    The end.

    Re: Inspired Fahitjas

TiG, I have to thank you for the inspiration. I've just had the most amazing steak sandwich.

Finely chopped the onion, but kept a couple of slices whole.
Finely sliced the some chestnut muchrooms
    fried them up
removed the onion strings for later
    added some garlic
added the beef (already chopped, but i cut some bits down more)
    browned it
Added some Mushroom Ketchup (which is more like Lee & Perins than red sause)
Spices: mild chilli, cayenne pepper, paprika, cumin, coriander, loads of ground pepper
    Added cream
cooked it right down until the fat started coming back outof the sause.

Toasted a small ciabatta, cut in half, added the beef to one half, topped with mature Leardamner and the onions from earlier. Toasted.

    That was sooooo good.

The fahjitas i'll use for lunch tomorrow.
