    Any other cheese nuts here?

Since my daughter landed a Saturday Job on a deli market stall (a few years back) we have got all snobbish about cheese. No longer is supermarket cheese good enough (even their "Finest" or "fit for a snob" range). Now I find myself spending silly money on the likes of "Mongolian Yak Brie" or Cheese made from the cows that only graze on the top square meter of every pasture. Favourites are :-

    Beaufort (ete/hiver/alpage)
    Brie de Meaux
    Old Amsterdam
    Mrs Kirkhams Lancashire
    Cropwell Bishop Stilton
    Young Pecorino
    Compte
    Tomme de Savoie

    ...and other sufferers here?

Re: Any other cheese nuts here?

Yup, although i can't stand mouldy cheese

I have a wide variety of Chedders that i frequent and allsorts of others, Jarlsberg is nice as is proper edam (of the various varieties)

I mainly prefer strong cheeses, but as you can see, soft tastes like edam and jarsberg also hit the spot (as long as they are decent ones)

We have a whole fridge shelf devoted to cheese ()

Re: Any other cheese nuts here?

I find that only really good stilton does it for me now.

Paxton and Whitfield, potted stilton, prolly with a good 10 year old tawny port.

I also love pecorino, but such money..... its proper dough.

Re: Any other cheese nuts here?

    nice!

i like my cheese and my sandwiches so there we go!

just came back from switzerland who eat cheese like potatoes. nice, rich, simple fondue and also raclett is great.

in sarnies i'm a big fan of thinly sliced emmental and jarlsberg.

on hot potatoes i like boursin with garlic, it's soft and smooth and adds just the right amount of taste.

there was one i tried a while ago, i think it was cornish - covered with nettles, i didnt like the nettle part but the cheese itself was buttery delicious.

    good topic.

    Absolutely.

The Snowdonia Cheese company make some nice Cheddar cheeses, the Extra mature and the Chilli ones are nice.
