I recently saw a recipe online that explains how to make Gummy Bears. I was wondering if anyone had ever tried to make Gummy Bears and if so, how did they turn out compared to the ones you buy in stores?

Sounds awesome, gotta link?
Never done it but I'm assuming it would be quite complex, you'd probably need strange ingredients such as gelatine etc
Gelatin is actually really easy to get hold of, loads of recipes use it. I'd be surprised if it wasn't in the baking isle in most of the supermarkets.
Just had a quick search about and it seems that gummy bears are just normal jelly with additional gelatin to make them tougher. Then perhaps a dusting of corn starch to keep them separate.

How would you shape the bears? Can you buy tiny bear moulds?!

Sorry I couldn't give it before, I was unable to due to account restraints (I had under five posts).
The only problem is you need a microwave; I wonder if I could use an oven instead...
Instead of an oven, heating the mixtur up in a bowl in a sauce pan full of water might be better. that way you avoiding the direct heat of an oven or pan. the same way you melt chocolate.
Thanks, that's a good idea. About the moulds, I'm not sure I would use a gummy bear mould, because I any old mould will suffice.
Remember seeing that pimpthatsnack item before, first time I've seen that wikihow article however, looks interesting.
I am tempted to give it a go. My wife would probably be pleased if I could save giving Haribo so much of my money

That looks awesome, I'm going to try it out this weekend. I don't have enough recipes for sweet things, about the only one I cook regularly is a lemon pudding that's very tasty. And a summer-pudding when it's in season.
