Cheese on toast with a liberal spreading of marmite

Lovely on a Saturday morning with a nice cup of Costa Rican Coffee.

    Aww...I'm hungry now

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I love the stuff for approx 1 week at a time - have it on everything but then never touch it for another 6 mths. Does anyone think it's something to do with a Vit B deficiency?

    Re: Any Marmite loves here?

The makers would have us believe everyone either loves it or hates it. I'm the exception. I like it, but I have to be in the mood. I like it as a taster for some other things. For instance, a very light coating of marmite on toast, with sliced tomato on top, works well with a sort if sweet/sour thing going on. It also works well between toast and toasted cheese .... as does a decent pesto, and to be honest, the pesto is much better for that.

Occasionally, I'll have marmite on toast or even a marmite sandwich, but I really have to be in the mood for that.

Oh, and about half a teaspoon (for my taste) adds a zing to gravy for your roast beef.

But I'm certainly not a lover of marmite, and sometimes weeks at a time go past without me touching it .... which is why I always but fairly small posts.

Peanut butter, on the other hand. Yum. Especially Skippy, which in my opinion, is a world-beater in peanut butter. But that's getting off-topic.

    Re: Any Marmite loves here?

I don't find it a love it or hate it topping
So despite the marketing I can eat it without either vomiting or emptying the jar in a single session

I don't mind it (do prefer vegemite)

Well, let's be fair to their ad's team, Love It, Like It a bit but not really fussed or Hate it really doesn't work as well on the labels

Still, great tip about cheese on toast, never tried it before but worked really well with the mature chedder I'd got!

Your wife has good taste - love marmite with cheese on toast.

Cheese on toast with Nando's Peri Peri sauce is pretty darn good too. Mmm hungry now...

    Re: Any Marmite loves here?

Have to say I'm another like it but not that fussed typed. There's a lot more of us out here than Marmite would like you to believe

My wife (how come everyone's come into a marmite thread to mention how their wives like marmite?!?) has yeast extract in bean toasties to give them a bit more flavour (me, I'm a traditionalist and have cheese in my bean toasties )
