Looking for an easy and light starter
Hi guys.
I've drawn the short straw and have to cook a main and a starter for my friends, I've got fillet steak planned for the main course but haven't a clue what to do for a starter. Can somebody please help me out, I've had a flick through the starter sub-forum but haven't really seen anything that would tickle my fancy.
Cheers
Re: Looking for an easy and light starter
broccoli and stilton soups really easy and will taste great, lots of ways to do it online.
prefer white stilton myself, morrisons sell it.
2kg broccoli, 1/2kg white stilton, stock, cook broccoli, add stilton, blend for 5 mins. season to taste.
Re: Looking for an easy and light starter
I do this on a BBQ mostly but still would work for a light starter, and its really nice
Bunch of Asparagus
Parma Ham
Olive Oil
Mixed herb (although i like adding chilli flakes too)
Cook the Asparagus in boiling water for 2 mins
take out of boiling water and add to bowl of iced water
Once taken out of iced water, marinade in olive oil and choice of herbs for anywhere from and hour to overnight (Your choice)
Roll the Parma Ham around 1 or 2 sticks of Asaragus continue till you have enough for your guests,
Place in Grill Pan with a little low cal spray or oil (again which ever you prefer)
Cook until Parma Ham becomes a little Crisp
And Serve :)
Really nice and light starter.
