Can anyone point me in the direction of a good supplier?

Did a quick google - and found these

Not the real thing, but from a re-usability and food safety aspect, may be preferable? There are real scallop shells available here

Re: Scallops in the shell
thanks guys, when I find a Waitrose near me, I'll have a look. I like the look of the ovenware shells, bit pricey for a fancy plate, but I can see myself using those, definitely.

Only ever seen shelled and cut scallops in our local Waitrose, rather than whole. We have a 'fish lady' who comes to our door once a week; she goes to the market in the mornings and gets what's good - she can almost always find us what we need. Not sure if you have someone like that near you, but it may be worth asking about (local restaurants may be helpful as they'll receive delivery).
