    Roman Salad

I just had a beautiful Roman salad (nearly a slip and said shower ) over at my local resturant.

What are your thoughts on what makes a good salad?

A good mix of leaves... something like rocket, then lollo rosso and maybe some chard.

Dressed with a good olive oil, lemon juice and salt and pepper. Lovely!

Am only into salad very recently as I gave up cigarettes and realise I need to stop dodging salads, I do like tomato and mozarella with basil and olive oil a lot but apart from that mixed leaves with tomatos and a nice vinagrette. Pasta salads also but they dont really count.

For me it would have to be the £1.99 ceasar salad pack from somerfield. comes with everythig you need, lettuce, bacon flavour croutons, parmesan and ceasars dressing.
taste much better than the other supermarket packs i've found because the uses grated parmesan which just mixes with the dressing and becomes a nasty pulp. Congrats somerfield

Parmesan I normally grate and not shave, shaving (parmesan that is )I think is important for commercial presentation but doesn't have the coverage that I like.

I'm with you on this one, Mozzarella with beef tomatoes, red onion, fresh basil and olive oil is gorgeous. My fave ever. (Occasionally comes with avocado to make the tricolore but i don't like it!)

I also like tabbouleh. And cous cous makes a nice alternative to rice and pasta.

I'm glad its coming to salad season again.
