Vino and Tesco.. the trick
You all know the "3 for a tenner" deal that Tesco does a lot of?
Sometimes it's good stuff. sometimes rubbish.
Well. ... remember also that they give 5% discount off 6 bottles in one purchase.
Well...here's the trick. They take the 5% off the ORIGINAL PRICE.. not the £3.33 price.
SO... if they have a deal on bottles that were .. say... £4.99 each.. which they do often as not....
you get the 5% off the £4.99 price. SO that's 25p off the price of the £3.33...
so... you can get a very good bottle of vino for around £3.10 if you spend the time looking.
I shall leave now.. and savour this quite good Lindeman's Cab Sauv which worked out at UNDER £3 a bottle on this very plan.
Re: Vino and Tesco.. the trick
Sounds like a good plan. I am confused thoug. Does it really work to combine the two discounts? Can hardly imagine. Normally, the till does it on its own, without the cashier doing anything. Can't believe that they should be as stupid to not check if the operating system of the till is preset correctly. Anyway. If you are looking for other bargains, search this shop for great shoes!
Re: Vino and Tesco.. the trick
There's nothing to say that it's a mistake, Tesco are probably well aware of the situation and the tills do it automatically.
Re: Vino and Tesco.. the trick
aah, tesco discount bugs. my mums a fan of those, although they did fix the one she was most fond of.
say an item was £1.99, and it was BOGOF, the till would put it as
item = £1.99
item = £1.99
offers = BOGOF -£1.99
total = £1.99
what my mum did was to go to the reduced section in the store and get the BOGOFs from there, so the same item reduced to say 99p.
item = 99p
item = 99p
offers = BOGOF -£1.99
total = -£0.01
so tesco owed my mum 1p for buying 2 items :)
combine this with the monthly shopping resulted in 4 trollies full of stuff for about £20.
its probably a similair bug with the wine discounts. so only a matter of time before its traced and fixed, so stock up while you can.

I have checked this out many times before posting it.. I promise it works. ANd I am SURE they know about it and fair play... it gets some very good vino into the deal :)
It's useable on any of the good deals. not just the 3 for a tenner.
So.. if you see, as I did last week, a Berberana reduced from £10 to £5... but 6 of them... and the £30 total comes down by 5% of £60 original price ... so down by £3.
And suddenly you have 6 bottles of proper good vino for £27, and £4.50 is a GOOD price for those wines.
