    Most useless kitchen item

Along the same lines as Deckard's essential kitchen item, what is your most useless item or gadget? Mine is a so-called garlic peeler which was just a sort of rubber tube that you put the clove in. You were supposed to roll it round and the skin came out one end and the peeled clove came out the other. Totally didn't work. Glad I didn't buy it - it was one of several gadgets given to me for Christmas.

The Wife - Gets in the way, doesnt follow instructions, cooks the wrong recipe....I could go on

Apart from that I have had some totally useless nut crackers. The one with the large wooden screw arrangement was less suble than a hammer!

Sair has a "wiggle and twist" ! ....swhy I go out with her

seriously tho i'ts a wine bottle opener..you're SUPPOSED to slide one thin blade of metal in down the side of the cork.....then the other the other side...then wiggle it in....then twist it out...and apparently you can put the cork back in too.....

    yeah...right

I also have 2 bottle openers myself......why two?

Cos one opens BEER bottles but cracks the wine bottle evertime I use the waiters friend end....the other is the reverse...awesome job on wine bottle but cracks the glass neck of beer bottles.

    Seriously....I ask you....WHATS a man to do

A Metal mortar and pestle that when it was used once rusted as the paint had come off, how useless was that. I have replaced it now after never actually using it with a wooden one.

god, theres so many! my mum bought a rack full of little things like can opener, and clove crusher but it also comes with a zest stripper which to this day i think hasn't been used. also the fruit bowl! every month it gets filled with oranges (not apples or banana's etc just oranges) and every month they go off, mum complains then the following month buys some more! LOL

aaarrgggh! i hate white sinks, never had one till i moved into my current house & all it does is get stained with whatever you've just cooked, or get scorch marks when you put anything remotely hot in there

its days are numbered - it won't last the summer i promise you

most useles item in my kitchen has to be an egg separator, i've no idea where it came from (i can only assume my kitchen "grew" one cos i didn't buy it & my mrs swears she didn't either)

i must separate...ooohh...all of 1 egg per decade....and even then i can happily do so without the aid of a special tool for the job...its not like its hard!
if it ain't broke...fix it till it is

Gotta agree with Zak - my microwave is probably my most useless gadget coz I dont use the damn thing. Was a glorified clock until I decided to unplug it!
Only got it coz my ex was adament that we needed one!!

Apart from that - if a gadget doesnt work properly, I chuck it out. If it dont work, I dont want it..... same thing happened to the ex!!

A corkscrew that gets a cork out in half a nano-second. But only after spending half an hour setting it up right, and then another half hour getting the cork off the end of the bloody thing.

Missus has a cheese cutting thing that I've thrown out a dozen times but it must have some sort of 'bin alarm' on it cos it keeps reappearing.

Posh garlic crusher that doesn't actually crush garlic because the crushing ends don't get within an inch of each other.

Oven glove that transfers heat quicker than copper. Really useful.

One of them big green metal book stand things, gets in the way building a coating of dust but MUST stay as it's a present and its disappearance would be noted and held against us in a future will.

A massive silvery metal sandwich toastie thing that guards the top of the fridge. Never been used and never will be.
