a great restaurant in Hertfordshire
I'm not one to blurt about restaurants if they're good.. they've gotta be really good.
and if they are so amazing I WANT to blurt.. I dn't cos I don't want them to get so busy I can't get a table (one in Devon... no.. I'm not telling you)
But the perfect mid ground is this one
http://www.lussmanns.com/restaurants/bishops-stortford/
Lussmann's in Bishop's Storford.
We went there this weekend with family and I had some really really good food and drink.
I had good squid, cooked well and served well.
WESTERN ISLES GRILLED SQUID
I had great beer (a couple of Staffordshire Pilsners)
I had truly, bloody superb (REALLY GOOD) steak.... and perfectly cooked curly kale
RUMP STEAK & FRITES (8OZ) (matured for 35 days)
(Sair had a sirloin with a blue cheese butter... christ, that was good too)
I had some more goooood beer (a couple of Norfolk Blackwood Stouts to DIE for... great choice for my steak)
And I had a divine cheese board to finish.
(with a Stilton du Cave... very pleasing)
These guys have good ingredients and I suggest you give them your wallet if you can justify it :)

Oh, go on!
I don't go to a restaurant to satisfy hunger. For me it has to be really special, otherwise I am dissapointed. I want it to be something I can't cook or something that requires so much effort I cba.
Also service has to be top notch. Last place I went was a Portugese restaurant in London.....best service I have ever had, and food unlike I had experienced before. But then sometimes, usually with the family, you are surprised by good food and service from what you might think would otherwise be a modest establishment. Also I think it depends on your mood?
