    Re: Food Processor

I had a Kenwood that dies after not all that much use, and replaces it with a 2nd hand magimix from ebay. The magimix is about twice the weight of the kenwood, its all in the motor. Despite it being a few years old I can still get spares, and its still in great shape. the decision to buy one was based on the mother in law having one for donkeys yeras and it still working perfectly.

So to recap. Look on ebay for a used magimix thats close enough to pickup.

*If* you're looking or happy to spend ~£300 I would probably go for one of the stand mixers with attachments, especially if you do any baking.

My wife was looking at the stand mixers last year - basically the KichenAid stand mixers and the Kenwood Chef. She ended up with a Kenwood Chef as a xmas pressie as it came with all of the attachments for a similar price as the KitchenAid with just the mixing bowl and beaters - the Chef had a food processor attachment (plastic bowl and 3 cutting discs) and a glass liquidiser attachment thrown in. Prices seem to have shot up this year (way beyond the VAT rise). I 'only' paid £280 for this one:

The white bodied ones are a fair bit cheaper. The "titanium" model is supposed to be better built all round but I wouldn't be surprised if that's just marketing and what I paid extra for was the silver finish / heavier casing. I wouldn't scrape on the wattage (which was another factor against the KitchenAid - they only have ~300W motors apparently whereas the Chef I bought has a 1400W).
