Ah, green tea.
It's much more sensitive to incorrect brewing than black tea, water must be below the boil (85 or so) and overbrewing either by using too much tea or for too long and really kill it. White tea is even more sensitive.
If you don't like the vegetable/spinach/grassy taste I would recommend trying some Gunpowder, it's usually a bit deeper/darker tasting than most green teas. It's usually Chinese but I have some Sri Lankan stuff at the moment which I ordered online. Twining's is actually pretty good, as is whittards but the twinings is darker in flavour, the one I have at the moment is to fresh and delicate tasting for my liking.
Also, the second steep of green tea is usually easier on the palette, in fact you can rinse in with a bit of hot water and just chuck that.
It's also used in morrocco with FRESH mint (usually spearmint) and sugar, don't use dry mint or pre-made "morrocan gunpowder with mint".
As for black tea I have just finished of a box of Twining's Yunnan (it's a Chinese black tea), I'm going to see if I can source some high quality loose stuff but the tea bags are already very nice.
Agree with above comments, moderate exercise and fresh looks at diet/portion control. Maybe also look at 5/2 diet as seems to becoming quite popular.
I usually drink black tea, but green tea is also very good if you prepare it right.
I wouldn't drink any caffeinated drink for health purposes!
I managed to get a much better cup this of my new gunpowder this weekend by really letting the temperature drop.
