Any one , managed to master it ?
Every attempt at it in the past has come up short of my local - then again so has every other attempt Ive seen sold.

We have a superb Chinese (+ other Asian) store in Milton Keynes, and we get packs of salted black beans there as opposed to jars or cans or beans or ready made sauce, definitely the best way to do BB dishes.
Recipes ? Ken Hom, Kenneth Lo, Even Keith Floyd will help. Lemme know if you still get no luck and I'll find some for you.
As g8ina says you need the packs of salted black beans. From there I usually add some soy sauce, a little bit of black rice wine vinegar (just a splash), loads of garlic, a bit of ginger (usually just the juice squeezed out of a piece) and some finely chopped fresh chilli.
I usually use finely sliced rump steak, a couple of diced peppers, finely sliced mushrooms and onion, fry everything off and add the sauce bits. I don't bother thickening the sauce as I like it quite dry
