    Microwave only ready meal?

Found some small print on my ready meal that says not suitable for oven heating.
So I've just decanted it into a small dish and put it in anyway, I figure 25 minutes should do it?

Why are some ready meals like this?
Why don't they mark this more clearly on the packaging?

Well sometimes it comes out better in the microwave than on the hob or oven. It might just mean it will dry out if used in the oven. Similar to how everything goes soggy and explodes in the microwave :/

I've been caught out the other way round where I thought it could be Microwaved but it was oven only.
    I agree with TeaAddiction.

The way I see it ready meals that are microwave and oven cookable tend to be about 80% pre cooked and you are just doing the last bit. Oven only food tends to be 20% pre cooked or less and still needs a slow cook to complete. Microwave only is probably more to do with the packaging and layout of the food that to transfer for oven cooking is messy, or the ingredients mean the texture will just end up awful at the end.
I would have thought there would be no problem with putting something that is Microwave only into the Oven. However, Oven only food in the Microwave is generally a no go - heat can build up too quickly in raw meat and just explode without actually cooking it, or it just burns the top part of the meat and leaves the middle raw.

I put in a bit of water to combat drying out. Had some slightly crunchy rice on top but nothing terrible.

Plenty of meals have oven cook rice, I guess this is a different sort of rice?
Well worked out OK this time, will try to avoid it in future. I just wish the packaging was clearer.
