Why not. Find the cheapest stewing/braising steak with plenty of fat for a nice very long slow cook. I think finding cheap meat off a good animal is prefferable to expensive meat of a bad animal. Something well hung or age it yourself.
A nice bit of bone maybe too. The longer it cooks and the more bones; the better. Nice bit of oxtail unless you hate gelatinie stuff (not much meat on it though).

I don't think a milky sauce goes too well with beef either.
Beef curries are great, so many ways to do them. If you've got the patience, definitely get a cut like skirt or brisket, and cook it slowly for a long time - the beef goes crumbly and melty and infuses stupid amounts of flavour into your sauce. Alternatively, slow roast the meat then pull it apart before you make the curry, saving some of the cooking juice to add flavour.
Avoid creamy or sweet curries - the beef will give that creaminess if you cook it right. Go for something tomatoey to add a bit of sharpness, or try plenty of spinach and some soy sauce for an extra-rich savoury sauce

Well considering we are talking purely from a taste perspective and not a religious one...
Well I never eat that, can you please share the recipe of beef curry because I want to try that one. Even I never see that dish before, I will wait for your next post including recipe.
