Cat's value food review: value milk chocolate digestive review
Brands compared:Asda,Tesco and Morrisons.
Expensive brands compared: Waitrose and McVitie's.
Verdict.
McVitie's does not taste too bad but since they changed the recipe they are too crumbly and are crap for dunking. They also seem a tad oily and are not cheap unless on offer. Waitrose is better for dunking and tastes fine too. Asda and Morrisons ones are meh.
However, the champion is the latest version of Tesco's value chocolate digestives.
They have a decent chocolate coating,a decent tasting digestive base with enough crunch and are good for dunking. Plus they cost only 44p!
BTW,some pictures for Zak!! ;) :p
The packet.With 8% moar chocolate.

The top. Nice and dark and the coating is not too sweet.

The base. Well baked unlike some cheap brands which are undercooked.

The side. A decent layer of chocolate coating can be seen.

The Moose didn't like the Tesco digestives as he prefers paper and steel to plastic wrapping.

Have to agree the McVities I had a while ago did have an oily-like base and crumbles easily. On the other hand, it tasted a lot richer than the other biscuits thanks to the extra butter/oil. Will have a go at the new Tesco's one sometime soon. Hopefully they haven't just changed the packaging. :P
If you want a chocolate biscuit with a nice crunch, I would highly recommend Morrisons chocolate rich tea biscuits. I think that's what they were called. Haven't been to a Morrisons in a while since Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys are much more conveniently located for me. Anyway, those biscuits were lovely. Nice coating of a sweet milk chocolate and a crunchy biscuit. I could easily go through a packet a day. Watch it though, I think it was 60/80kCal a biscuit and you can go through a fair number in one sitting. :P

It doesn't fix the dunking issue but flavour-wise you could try the McVities Double Choc Digestives. They're not like regular but nothing like Dark Choc either. The Co-op has them @ £1/pack just now.

All that hard work was for nothing I say, nothing!!
Re: Cat's value food review: value milk chocolate digestive review
Aldi's Milk Chocolate digestives in milk or plain are non too shabby either.
Re: Cat's value food review: value milk chocolate digestive review
Tried dunking them in tea. They are made of win!! The McVitie's ones tend to disintegrate quickly and these don't.
Re: Cat's value food review: value milk chocolate digestive review
Cadbury's digestives mmm.
I have to disagree ASDA's digestives amazing!
You really shouldn't post huge pictures of chocolates biscuits, it's like being in a dream; I can't just grab out and eat them! :(

I would like to add Aldi's own brand chocolate digestives to the mix too. They are not too bad,but are overly sweet.
Re: Cat's value food review: value milk chocolate digestive review
Do the chocolate chip digestives count? They seem much more dunking friendly.
Re: Cat's value food review: value milk chocolate digestive review
I really liked Lidls chocolate digestives. What struck me was how fresh they tasted. Since having them I've gone right off all the others. Tho now im near an Aldi and not Lidl I'll see what theirs are like.

I'm sorry. This is a new concept to me. I will purchase these very soon and return with my opinion.
And on topic, I've always been a fan of dark chocolate digestives and McVities sadly seem to make them the best.
I only buy them when they are on 2 for £2. I ain't no fool... :)
