lol, you too eh?
This, being off with the kids for half term, we've done bread rolls and loaves, ciabbatta, sponges, fairy cakes and choux buns... along with a very nice soup and today we're doing a fish pie.....
Gotta keep myself occupied or I'll end up on FB all blinkin day...
Same here folks
Been working through the meal recipes such as the chicken and some of the veggie recipes. Tonight I will be cooking chicken fajitas - the chickens been marinated in nando's peri-peri overnight as well
All I need now is a hexus chefs hat
Been going a bit more mad these last few days....
CROISSANTS!!! oh yummy yum yum!
Gonna nip out the shops and get one of those packs of ready to bake dough (cos I can't be bothered making a fresh batch of dough...) But I I can hve lovely freshly baked croissants for Sunday morning.... su-blinkin-perb!
I made me some scones the other day, and delish they were too with some Jam, strawberries and Clotted Cream. Next up is some orange breakfast muffins and perhaps my infamous Orange and Lime Ice-cream. I have to say cooking can be blooming good fun

I've been trying bread mixes lately, for the same reason, I'm too lazy to bugger about with yeast. These are just dry ingredients that you add water to, knead quickly and prove. I was a little sceptical at first, but I have to say they're not half bad.Originally Posted by Deckard
Never come across ready to bake dough though. I'm guessing they are chilled, and then you prove them at home?

Yes - dont you remember the adverts on TV a few years back pushing them loads? You twist and pop the container or something
Now you say that... Bloomin 'Eck, yes I do! Wasn't it 'Doughboy' or something similar?
How do they work though? I mean, they can't be proving in the can for months on the shelf. Perhaps you have to 'trigger' them in a low oven or something.
/heads of to asda looking for doughboy - Love that smell of baking bread on Sundays
Yeah, there was the pilsbury doughboy and ready to bake stuff.
The croissant are from Delice de France. They have something like a two week shelf life. Its a sheet of croissant dough, scored into triangles. You tear off the triangles, roll em up and brush em with milk, then bake for 10 minutes or so and you're done.
There's a comapny that does ready to bake cookie dough too, it comes like a sausagse and you slice off what you want to cook.
Ah, I've seem their vans about down here. Will have to find out who they supply.Originally Posted by Deckard

First as a new member (just joined today) I want to say that this is a really great site - and after reading the few post I can see that there are some really Geat People Here ! (never hurts to add butter LOL)Originally Posted by headbrace
About me: I am not a real cook - I have had no formal trainning - but get this my father was a head chef in many great Resturants in New York City ! My wife has been a cook for 21 plus years (That is her career)
My cooking started as a way for me to make some extra money about 7 years ago - when I say I am not a real cook what I mean by that is that all I do is take precooked food and heat and serve it. Or as some people call it "short order"
My boss at the "Golf course where I work is a real cook and for the past 2 years she has been making special dinners for the touranments we hold -
I have learn so much from her. She makes everything from scratch - )ps I hate peeling potatoes) LOL
I have decided to learn how to make Scones! I have a friend who just opened a cafe - On a scale of one to ten - as a cook he's a ten - as a businessman he's a 1
I decided to offer Scones for breakfast to offset the other small cafes in the area he is in . They all offer the same egg/muffin /danish / coffee thing. I want to make the place stand out above the rest.
So you can see why I picked out Headbrace - I discovered this site tonight and I was planning on making a test run of Scones tomorrow -
Headbrace since you have experience are there any special things I should know - I have 3 types -a bacon one, a plain one, and the ones with jam any secret reciepts LOL
Would you be willing to tell me about how to make "orange breakfast muffins and perhaps my infamous Orange and Lime Ice-cream"
I would also like to ask the members here if they know about any other breakfast type item the is unusal -
My last question is :I noticed that there is no business related section - I am sure most of you have or have had business related experiences that would be helpful to others - is there any interest in such a section ?
Thank you all for your time and listening
