    coffee beans!

    Any coffee snobs?

I love a cup of proper coffee, and I am mr impossible to buy presents for. I had just seen a bean to cup come up on hotukdeals when the wife asked what I wanted for my birthday so the rest is history.

The question remains, what beans for mr extra shot americano ?

Americano? Meh, drink it neat as espresso. I like this place: http://www.hasbean.co.uk/ for coffee beans though, fresh roasted and a lot of choice.

    Re: coffee beans!

Hate to say it, but the best Expresso I've found is Sainsbury's own brand, but the local place usually only has it ground. They do sell it as beans though IIRC.

Best beans for cafetiere, although not as strong - Whittard's Mocha Djimmah (if I spelled it right)

    Re: coffee beans!

I buy my beans from York Coffee Emporium - roasted to order and delivered to the door.

    My 2 favourites are:

Vietnamese G1 Arabica which gets a 4 in the strength rating and makes a wicked "espresso" shot in my Aeropress (alright, not enough BAR to qualify as an espresso but the taste's brilliant). Makes a nice half & half Americano too.

If you're feeling adventurous and like a dark, rich bean I'd recommend their Monsooned Malabar which gets a 5 rating and makes a rocking single shot but a beauty of an Americano - full of flavour.

    Re: coffee beans!

Have you got a good coffee place that sells beans near you? I get my beans from a local coffee shop / coffee importer so can go in for a chat, try some coffee and generally works out cheaper than buying online.

    Re: coffee beans!

Wherever you get them I would recommend using a supplier that roasts to order. Whole beans go stale in a few weeks from roasting (ground goes stale in about 20 minutes from grinding), so the fresher the better. I dislike supermarket and other big suppliers as you have no idea how long the coffee has been sat at warehouse since roasting.

I was very mad on coffee. I used to take 5 in a day. Is there anyone who had taken more than 5 times?

That's nice. Do you have a bean recommendation as per the question?

    Re: coffee beans!

Yep, I insist on freshly roasted beans, I have a hand grinder & a small Gaggia coffee machine to make sure I get my daily fix. Hasbean is very good, I've been ordering from them for a couple of years now.

    A few links below;

http://shop.squaremilecoffee.com/ I used these guys once, a lot of the good independent coffee shops in London use them. very good.

    http://smallbatchcoffee.co.uk/

    http://extractcoffee.co.uk/

    http://www.ozonecoffee.co.uk/

    http://www.unionroasted.com/coffees.html

    http://www.origincoffee.co.uk/

Read the reviews about coffee shops on here, Some roast their own & do mail order or some get theirs from the above suppliers.

    http://www.cosycoffeeshops.co.uk/uk-coffee-shops/

Hope this is of some help.

I buy my coffee either from HasBean or Square Mile. Can't really go wrong with either but more often than not it'll be HasBean I go to.
