The papery bit on top of tubs of butter-y spread

How long do you string out keeping it on top of the surface, before it becomes more of an annoyance than a help? Halfway through, near the end etc - or does yours go in the bin from the off?

(Assuming you cookery forum types ever lower yourselves to such things, or won't touch anything except little work-of-art blocks of delicately salted butter from hand-fed regional cows ).

It can be useful for greasing a baking tin.

And for those with OCD you might like to keep it, depending on whether you prefer to use the spread in vertical slices or horizontal layers!

Well, I don't use spread very much these days. I just prefer butter. But on those occasions when I do use spread, I too am in the straight off and into the bin camp.

Was thinking about this just this morning (and every time I open a new pack). I always take it off and throw it away immediately. I find it really annoying when it's left in. Almost as bad as finding toast crumbs in there.

I leave it on. Not sure why, as there is a cover on top anyway.

This ^ and I hate any of those stupid plastic/foil/paper lids that don't come off in one.

Peanut butter jars are the absolute worst, you think you've got it off in one go and then rrrrip....a tiny piece of unpickoffable foil remains stuck on the rim, laughing at you every time you open the jar
